Writing your Will for free can help us beat cancer for future generations.

Cancer Research UK

Gifts in Wills are vital because they enable long-term research projects to develop new treatments and cures that could save millions of lives.

Thanks to the generosity of people who leave gifts in Wills, and the researchers who are making life-saving scientific discoveries, together we are creating a future that’s free of the fear of cancer.

Write your Will for free

Our Free Will Service is for anyone aged 18 or over.

We cover the cost of a simple Will, and most people who use it choose to include a gift to Cancer Research UK.

Here are a few things to think about if you decide to leave us a gift in your Will.

£600

Could buy a handy tool that lets scientists accurately measure 12 samples at once, speeding up the pace of our life-saving research.

1% of a £250K estate

Could fund a kit to analyse blood samples for circulating tumour cells, helping us personalise cancer care.

£7500

Could fund 9 months of a clinical trial into improving treatments for lung cancer.

20% of a £400,000 estate

Could buy a time-saving robot to extract the DNA from cells, helping our scientists to find new ways to beat cancer.

Choosing how and where your gift is spent

If you’d like to, you can decide where the gift in your Will should go through ‘restricted giving’.

This means your gift can be restricted to a specific type of cancer or research institute of your choice.

Minimising inheritance tax liability

If you leave a gift in your Will, you may be able to reduce, or even eliminate your inheritance tax liability.

Gifts to charities are 100% tax-free and are taken out of your estate before tax is calculated.
