Sarcoma UK

1st Step Wills & Trusts are proud to offer the exclusive FREE WILL SERVICE for Sarcoma UK

Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. It is the only cancer charity in the UK focusing on all types of sarcoma.

They receive no government funding and rely solely on generous voluntary donations and the energy and imagination of their tireless fundraisers.

Sarcomas are rare forms of cancer affecting around 5,300 people a year. They can be hard to diagnose because they can occur in any part of the body, including muscles, bones, tendons, blood vessels and fatty tissues

When a form of cancer only affects 1.3% of all new cases each year, it is not a priority within the sector. But who says that the small percentage of people who experience this devastating disease shouldn’t have a committed team and community rallying behind them too? Sarcoma UK are doing exactly that. Together with their supporters, they offer specialist support, connect people around the world and advocate for those affected by sarcoma. They may be small compared to other cancer charities, but their knowledge is vast, their support invaluable, their voices loud, and their impact mighty!

“1st Step Wills & Trust threw themselves behind my fundraising campaign for Sarcoma UK assisting and supporting in every way they could. This continued after the bike ride when one Friday afternoon after a really rough round of chemo they arranged for me to receive a call from Sir Kenny Daiglish. I’m a huge Liverpool fan so it was a very welcome boost at a difficult time. I want to say a massive thank you to Simon and the team for everything.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Sarcoma UK cover the cost of any Will?

As a charity, we have to carefully consider how we spend every penny of our money. We have fixed fees for the service agreed with 1st Step Wills and Trusts which cover the cost of simple Wills.

You may be liable to pay any costs which exceed this agreed limit.

Please discuss this with your Will- writing service provider before you use the Free Will Service.

Can anyone use the Free Will Service?

You must be aged 18 or over to use the service. If you’re writing a joint Will with your partner, only one of you needs to be 18 or over.

Why do I need a will?

Making a will is something that lots of people put off. However, a will is one of the most important documents you will ever write. By creating a will, you can decide what happens to your money and possessions, it’s the only way to ensure that your intentions are carried out. For example, if you are a parent of a child under 18 in England and Wales or under 16 in Scotland, you’ll have the opportunity to decide who you want to be their legal guardian.  We always recommend using a solicitor when writing or updating a will.

How do you write your will?

Writing a will is straightforward and we are here to help you through the whole process. Before you get started, there are a few things to consider, such as what you have to leave and who you’d like to leave it to. Your solicitor will help you decide what sort of legacy to you could leave based on your circumstances. There are three kinds of legacies: a percentage gift, a fixed amount and a specific gift. With the help of a will writing professional, will writing is simple and doesn’t cost a penny when you use 1st Step Wills and Trusts.

Why do people leave a gift in their will to charities?

Gifts in a will left to charities make a vital difference. For some people leaving a gift in a will to our charity is seen as a tribute or a dedication to someone affected by sarcoma. It might also be a way for some people to ensure others do not have to face sarcoma in the future. Other people, might want to improve the lives of everybody affected by sarcoma after they have passed away. Whatever your reason for supporting, your gift will make a lasting impact to Sarcoma UK’s vital work
